This AA battery expired in March 2004, but didn’t appear to be corroded. So I found a volt meter and to my amazement, it still had a charge.
So I decided I should use it, its now currently powering my mouse.
I’ll update when the battery bites the dust.

I do remember back in elementary school, the go-to lazy science fair project was always to stick a bunch of flashlights in the freezer and see which battery took the longest to crap out. Duracell were consistently the winners.

And since it was not a Kirkland branded battery from Costco, it had not leaked all over some compartment in your car.
